Exhibition Preview: 'The Society's Museum'
21 January 2005
To celebrate our 100th anniversary an exhibition
in collaboration with Carmarthen Museum was officially launched
at a preview on Friday 21 January. Thanks are due to the very
hard work of Museum staff and key Society members, who made the
evening memorable. This is an interim report with pictures.

account of a suggested scenario about the goings-on, real and
imaginary, of the membership of the newly-born Society in its
first year

Sir David Mansel Lewis, Vice-president, reminding members of the
importance of Carmarthenshire's history and the role of the Society
in promulgating its study

Tom Lloyd and other members examining a selection of the Society's
'Scrapbooks' . These are a mine of information which contain many
original documents
The Exhibition at the County
Museum, Abergwili will run from January 22 to April 16. It displays
an enormously wide-ranging amount of material - both objects,
drawings, printed material, photographs and maps - representing
the equally wide-ranging interests of the pioneers who set up
the Society's museum. Do make a point of visiting it. Open during
normal Museum hours, 1000 to 1600hrs Mondays to Saturdays.
